Café and restaurant in the Rotterdamse Schouwburg (city theatre).Handy for a drink after the show. Musical performances at some nights.
Melief Bender (Oude Binnenweg 134; tel. 4145456)
One of the oldest pubs in town (±120 years). Mix of students, regulars and passers by. Summer outside tables, with a view of the passing shoppers. Easy going.
NRC (Nieuw Rotterdams Café) (Witte de Withstraat

Restaurant by day, bar by evening. Dance Club on
weekends. Good food, vibrant. Side Walk Café.
Raoul (Van Oldenbarneveldtplaats naast Bijenkorf)
Strategically placed with view on the shopping crowds. Good for lunch and drinks while recuperating from heavy duty shopping.
Sijf (Oude Binnenweg 115; tel. 4332610; open 10-02 uur)
Nice bar in Art Nouveau building. In summer tables outside in this busy street. Serving decent meals.
De Witte Aap (Witte de Withstraat 78, tel 4149565; open 13-late)
The White Monkey is supposedly "The beating heart of the Witte de With district". Mixed crowd of art lovers, shoppers, office workers and night owls. Saturday nights DJ's play their playsounds.
Oude Sluis (Havenstraat 7; tel 4773068; open 12-02uur)
Pub with a view on the historic Voorhaven (Front Dock) from the glass covered balcony.
De Pelgrim (Aelbrechtskolk 12, tel 4771189)
Café and restaurant with its own brewery (the only remaining in Rotterdam), producing high alcohol beer. Tours and tastings can be arranged by phoning ahead.
De Dijk (Oostzeedijk 245, tel 4330998; open 11-02uur)
Large (eet)cafe. Summer outdoor café. Draws loads of students and other locals, especially during Happy Hour (Thu 23-midnight)
Locus Publicus (Oostplein 364 tel. 4331761 )
A bit of a student haunt, but famous for its list of over 200 types of beer, some of which on tap
Hotel New York (Koninginnehoofd 1 tel. 4390525; open 7-23)
The former Headquarters of the shipping company Holland-Amerikalijn has been converted into a Grand Café, Hotel and restaurant. Beautiful building and location on a peninsula on the river. Can also be reached by Water Taxi from Leuvehaven and Veerhaven. Outdoor bar from april through september with fantastic river views (open 10am till midnight)

Grand Cafe and Restaurant in the Atlantic building, the city's first business office centre. The café breathes the atmosphere of shipping companies and agencies. The café has a small menu. Sunday afternoons have live music.
Dudok (Meent 88, tel 4333102; open 8-23uur)
Based in the former insurance office designed by the architect of the same name. Consists of a Grand-Café, and a patisserie at ground level. The cakes and pies are delicious and can also be bought as take away. Dudok is famous for its mouthwatering apple pies. At the mezzanine level there is a Brasserie.
Wijnbar Janssen & Van Dijck (Westewagenstraat 58; open until late)
Busy wine bar with (heated) outside tables. Especially popular for after work or pre-club drinks.
Pol (Meent 46-48 , open 11-01)
Popular with the students. In the evenings loud music and punters.
't Witte Huis (Geldersekade 1c; tel 4142142 open 15-05)
Old time classic of the Rotterdam bar scene. At the ground floor of the White House, once Europe's tallest building. Thursday thru Saturday nights are packed with a mixed crowd in a pleasant mood.
Apartt (Blaak 4, 4146702; open 11-02)
Large bar and restaurant in the Oude Haven area. Mainly young crowd. Proud of outdoor café with a view in summer.
Boudewijn (Nieuwe Binnenweg 53, tel ; open 15-04 uur)
Named after the late Belgian King. The pub cum restaurant serves 40 beers, most of the unsurprisingly Belgian. In Summer it has a side walk café that livens up the street considerably.
Rotown (Nieuwe Binnenweg 19, tel 4362669 open vanaf 11.00 uur)
Hip and alternative Grand Café with live music and DJ's Very popular. Delicious sandwiches for lunch and dinner tables at the back. News papers.
Westerpaviljoen (Mathenesserlaan 136, tel. 4362645)
Grand Cafe and restaurant on busy cross roads in the Oude Westen district. In summer large outdoor café. Populair with the Rotterdam media crowd. .
